This website is a collection of multimedia resources, inlcuding; electronic music production, video shooting/editing, photography, website creation, and the combination of them all together.

The Person

McSmooth was a goofy nickname for myself, Chris Gordon, that became a performance name and my website. By trade, I am a web developer with many years of PHP and a more recent focus of Ruby on Rails. Similarly I have several years of experience with system administration and configuration of web servers. By hobby and side-jobs, I enjoy music production, synthesizers, DJing, videography, digital photography, computers... and not enough time! Clearly I enjoy tech toys, but am not a fan of overpriced, oversimplified and trendy gear (sorry Apple).

As a Music Artist

My original artistic focus was with DJing electronic music. Growing up near the city, I was initially drawn in by Chicago house music. Although DJing on my own terms is enjoyable, I felt limited creatively by basing a performance soley on other people's music. I began down the path of music production and found it much more rewarding creating my own tracks. There I discovered a long-lost love for sampling and synthesis. Eventually I migrated from DJing to performing live PAs.

Videography and Editing

I have been shooting video for many years as a hobby, but developed more of an interest while editing music videos. Since then, I took more of an interest in both shooting and editing. Recently I made the switch to HD and have been doing more event work and creative editing projects.
